How to use specific CL accounts when posting to certain regions?
Article If you post to multiple cities on Cragslist, usually it makes sense to allocate specific CL accounts to specific cities, so that each account is used by CLAD to post only in the specific city, which may minimize ghosting issues and other problems with ads going up.
There are 3 ways to set this up in CLAD.
  1. This is the preferred way. Use the "Region" drop down box in the CL accounts properties in CLAD to bind CL accounts to the specific Craigslist regions. You can bind one or many accounts to each region. When CLAD starts posting an ad to a specific Craigslist region, it will first of all try to use CL accounts that are bound to that region to post that ad. Of course, the account must pass all validity and availability checks to be used. If there is one available CL account bound to the corresponding region, CLAD will use that account. If there are more than one available CL account bound to the corresponding region, CLAD will select which one to use randomly. If there are no available accounts bound to the corresponding region, CLAD's behavior will depend on the option "Fail post if no geo-targeted account was found" under settings/posting/craigslist/general. If that option is ON - CLAD will abort the post and try to post other ads. If that option is OFF - CLAD will try to use any other available CL account to post that ad. It is advised to keep that option ON.
  2. The second way is to allocate as many campaigns in CLAD as you have regions. Then, you bind CL accounts and ads to specific campaigns. So for example if you have ads A and B along with CL account X bound to Campaign 1, and ads C and D along with CL accounts Y and Z bound to Campaign 2, CLAD will always use account X to post ads A and B, and will always use either account Y or account Z to post ads C and D.  This approach may be more transparent, but also more tedious and time consuming to set up.
  3. The third way is to bind accounts directly to ads under Accounts tab in the ad properties. We do not recommend to use this approach, as the two approaches above should be sufficient to geo-target your ads and accounts properly.
